Hi Ive recently purchased an A4 TDI 140 S line Avant which was registered in may 2006 When giving the car a good clean Ive noticed
spotting under the laqeur on the ally/silver window surrounds . Is this likely to be covered by the factory warranty ? I feel that it should as it should not be expected on a vehicle of this quality ?

What do You people think ?? Anyone had a simmilar problem ??

They will pay for it yes, but theyl simply change with time again. Its the acid in the soap that you wash your cars with. Its hardly noticeable really when it happens.

They "might" pay for it, if you can prove it is their fault/problem. If they can prove you have been using acid in your soap yikes, then they will not pay for it. As you know they are in a business to make a profit at the end of the day, so if they see that its your fault, then you pay.

No mate. The dealership makes money from warranty claims. Remember the dealer you take your car to isnt Audi, its a franchise.

Dealers often get a bad rep for this sort of thing. Your right we do get paid by Audi for doing this sort of repair but we have to apply to Audi to get authorisation and if they say no then its a no-go. I imagine with the issue you describe you would be very unlikely to be successful as its wear and tear.

However, approved dealerships do have a pot of "goodwill" money from the manufacturer to use as they wish, if you bought it from a dealership and you have a full main dealer service history then take it back to where you bought it from and show them, explain you are slightly disappointed and apart from that your delighted with the car and will of course be using them for all your servicing and repairs in future! They may help you with a contribution towards it in order to secure your custom.

If you bought it privately or dont have a main dealer service history don't waste your time and don't mention the "goodwill" money thing or they will deny it as they are obliged to.

Dealers dont make much money on warranty claims. Labour rate is fixed allot lower than the retail rate, and they dont make a profit on the parts when there warranty either.

That said the trims do get discolored and it is warranty if you car is less than 3 years old and has done less than 60,000 miles

I have replaced loads of those under warranty. On A4 and A6, there is something wrong with the coating on them and they get discoloured.

Book it in and show the service adviser or even service manager if necessary exactly what you mean, descriptions of door trims can be confusing when you just see it writen down. Be sure to get a loan car weather you think you need one or not. Because sometimes the new trims come in scratched and we have to order another set overnight and keep it in a 2nd day. Its also a much bigger job than you might think, you have to take the whole door apart to change them, takes about 1 hour per door.

If the Audi center says its not warranty, then ring Audi UK and complain. Customer feed back is a big deal with VAG at the moment. My center got £22,000 bonus for our first time fix rate last month. It only takes 3 or 4 customer a month to complain, and we loose that, significant number of complaints and they take money off us. You are the customer you have the power. Just be sure to praise them, when Audi Uk give you a feedback call, if they do it right first time. Its makes a big difference to us humble technicians, ££££.
