Sold my 1989 911 at the weekend.
Feels like i let the car down. I have had her for 2+ years and not driven her enough.
Financial reasons have forced the sale....

Sad never the less.

Why did you sell it Stimmers? Replaced it with something else? I seem to remember you were not too enamoured with the amount it drank?

Well the plan was always to use my Ferrari more when the weather picked up, but i company i used to work for are having tough times and contacted me to help them on a consulting basis for 2 days a week. Its very good money, especially in the current climate and they are giving me a BMW X5 to use for the length of the contract with ALL costs paid for. So there is little point having nearly £39k in a car i think might depreciate a lot over the next 12 months when i have a free car.

So i go to get my Ferrari from Yorkshire on Sunday and i'm a member of http://www.streetcar.co.uk/default.aspx which i use for random journy's till the X5 turns up !!

I think im going to realise how much the S5 cost in fuel when i've had the X5 diesel for a bit.

Will see what happens when and if they bring out an RS5

just sold my MKII GTI 8v due mainly to financial reasons. Wife has given up her job to look after the youngest, 3 kids, house which needs a shed load of money spending on it and the fact I've driven for 4K miles in 3 years!

What sort of mpg where you getting in the S5? I was thinking of swapping my old R32 for one. The R32 gets about 18.5mpg long term average, which it pretty poor for a souped up Golf. I hope the S5 is about the same?

Thanks,

TSS

I swapped from a MK V R 32 and get about 25mpg on average from the S5. I did get a lot more than 18 from the R32 though.
You will no be sorry if you get an S5, a very impressive piece of kit and in a different league to the R32.

I loved the S5. I think its a brilliant car. One of the best looking cars on the road too IMO. Build quality is top notch, interior is spot on, everything works as it should, it was fast, comfortable, great on motorways and country roads, get 4 people in no problem, huge boot.

The ride is a little hard, there is still slight issues with the steering (like most Audi's) but none of these would put me off having one again in the future.

Im very gald i went for one over an RS4 and the new M3

Wow, that is very bad! I can get that out of my Countach if I drive it a bit carefully.

I've booked to test drive an S5 the week after next so it'll be interesting to compare the 2 cars.
