Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good quality pad upgrade for the front of 2000 Golf GTI 1.8 Turbo?
Think the standard brakes are weak but do not want to change discs etc.

Any thoughts or experience please?
Many thanks smile

You won't get a great deal of benefit from different pads.

You can DIY them, and the discs can be done easy enough too.

have you got 312mm setup on your golf if not its easy to fit, mintex extremes are very good but have fun finding a set, ferrodo DS2500's are also supposed to be very good.

I used the Ferodo DS2500s and they were fabulous. OK when cold under 'normal' braking, but they just kept getting better with added heat! They were fitted on standard 239mm vented disks on a Mk2 Golf and cost £70 delivered from www.aspperformance.co.uk

+1 on DS2500s, very good pad indeed.

Have to disagree with that.

The standard VAG pads suffer badly from fade under heavy use. DS2500s make a vast difference, particularly for track day use.
