alarming problem?

i have vw passat 2001,my alarm goes of about 5 mins after i lock the car, and when i leave the car open it locks itself and the alarm goes of again!its doing my head in as i cant seem to find the fault or how to stop it going of, can anyone help me?

One of the sensors/switches is giving a false reading - VAGCOM will tell you which one and the sensors themselves are cheap.

Either that or you have soggy carpets.

yep,pull back the passenger side carpet,underneath is the control module in a plastic casing,it may have water in it,it gets wet under there even if the carpet feels dry,if not there are a series of connectors behind the passenger side kick panel that corrode up
