VW Golf VR6 Weitiec Kit Question....

Hi, n/s/r shock leaking so needs replacing. I have a UK Spec Weitec GT kit as speced by C&R Enterprises due to fact that my car has a/c and the German kit (at the time) couldn't cope with the extra weight. they have quoted me £140 a pair (as done 60k miles) incl P&P. Now, as I'm el skinto I want to see what my real options are...
please forgive the dumb question but if a kit lowers the car is the shock shorther than standard oem?
So, what to do?
Any ideas guys?
