Hi,

Last weekend I drove over to the Nurburgring. During the trip I noticed a slight vibration coming throught the floor followed by a noise that is similar to when you open the back passenger window and it echos in your ear.

After closer inspection we found that the rear tyres were feathered on the inside wall which could only be spotted by feeling it.
I immediately called Audi to find out why this is happening.
They confirmed the noises and vibrations and advised me that Audi no longer recommend Dunlop Sport Max as they wear irregular due to the camber of the car. Feeling a little annoyed as I rarely do motorway miles and would never have noticed and plus the fact a month prior the car was on ramps at Audi having the front wheel geometry put right after replacing a new steering rack and a month prior to that the car was serviced and not one person picked it up.

I have explained that I feel this to be a warrenty issue as they are the original set with plenty of visual tread. There is nothing wrong with the tyres its a problem with them being used on the wrong car

My local dealer cannot authorise a refund so I have been told to take it up with Audi Customer Services.
I am having two Michelin Pilots fitted today and the duff tryes I'm taking to Audi to inspect.

Has anyone else had this problem? (which my local service centre recognises as real issue)

P.S
My car never touched the Nurburgring as we had hired a couple of Alfa's.

Not suffered that problem but my R32 came with Dunlop Sportmaxx tyres on it and was never really impressed with them. replaced them with Goodyear F1 Asymmetrics and the difference is like night and day.

Suprised that Audi admitted there was a problem therefore based on thatI would try and get them to give you a major discount to replace the tyres. They can only say no.

Good luck
