V10 Toureg - tyre problems
Discussion
My old chap runs a V10 Toureg and after a little over 10000 miles has eaten another set of Pirelli boots, they are 275-40-20 size wise and its getting pretty damn painful at just under a grand for another set.
My main question is whether anybody who has encountered the same has tried other brands of tyre and has extracted better ware?
The old man isn’t the worlds fastest driver anyway so its not as if it can be put down to a heavy right foot so please feel free to chip in with any ideas or suggestions

Thanks for the input one and all, I suppose at the end of the day the sheer bulk of the thing causes the problem on such soft rubber but one thing I can not believe is this engine was designed for this car and not the Phaeton or am I mistaken?
Previously the old man ran a V10 Phaeton which was a lovely bit of kit and pretty well balanced, the Toerag always feels about 10 seconds from terminal understeer or as if it was about to fall on its nose with the sheer weight of that engine.
Mind you given what the B thing is worth in the current market it will be staying a while yet
