Although if he has no intention of buying it isn't really fair to ask for a dealer's resources when then sales person could be earning money instead.
Er, yes...When I was looking to buy my R32 the only demonstrators that the dealers seemed to have were the Finance/Sales Directors run about, my local dealers were unproductive said that that would have to speak to the FD - so told em were to go. Whilst positive, VW Solihull sorted a test drive for me but 30 mins and the sales guy took a nice busy route so I could not get the feel for the car (well apart from the 1/4 mile or stretch of dual carriageway before the dealership where I planted my foot down and watched the sales chap grab the handle on the door)

I would suggest an out of town dealer if you are in Nottingham
Oh and also depends if you want a MKIV or MKV...(if mk 4 then give me a shout - got a friend at work want to test drive it as well)

I am sure they (dealers) will make up for potential lost revenue from aftersales, servicing, parts etc...Anyway, who said he's not going to buy it? A test drive could sway a punter......
