A5 is SOOo o o o dull compared to VX! try putting mich pilot sports on it all round they have plenty of wet and dry grip.
That said fuel mileage cant be good with the V8 so TDI might not be so bad. I work on Audi's all day, probably drive 2 or 3 A5's a week, really nothing special. S5 is great fun because of the power and flexibility of the engine, but all have little feed back from steering and very understeery like most Audi's. I would love a Monaro, drove a 6.0VXR and thought it was great, ESP off drifting round every roundabout. Cant beleive anyone would consider swaping that for A5.
Apart form the road tax and the fuel cost of course.
Most audi centres will have an 3.0tdi A5 demo, so book your self and test drive to see if you like it, good looking car and fairly reliably so far. What ever you do, dont get the multi-tronic gearbox, you have been warned.

Thanks for that, TT. Wouldn't touch multi-tronic. The Monaro is obviously great fun, and surprisingly economical too on long cruises, certainly more so than my beloved old 100S4. The trouble is that the Monaro doesn't know when to stop being fun and just get on with the job, I'm really looking for something quick that I can make good progress in without worrying about standing water, oil on the road and stuff like that.
Going to stick my neck out and disagree a little with Mr Tame Technician - to get one to understeer you'd have to be pressing on worryingly hard.
I really liked the overall driving experience of the new A5, with a decent spec the interior is a comfortable and classy place to be, the car itself looks superb and there is plenty of power and torque on tap to make utterly effortless, fast and comfortable progress.
I'd be waiting for an RS or looking elsewhere if driving thrills were the very top of my list. You should definitely drive on to see if it's a compromise you could live with.

Just had a A5 3.0 tdi quattro on test for a week, top car as good as you need, plenty of go. The performance figs suggest sub 6 secs to 60, 155mph top end, yep agree with all that. 47mpg on a long trip, 42mpg the norm. Guess whats on order?
It would not supprise me if Audi produced a TDI engined RS??
