Which A8 Is This

Whilst driving through Switzerland recently we parked in a service area, (small mortgage for a coffee), next to black A8, Lichtenstein plates. 20" alloys shod with 275/35's and red callipers. Apart from the Audi Rings no badges - other than a discreet W12 badge on the grille. Oh, and two big rectangular exhaust trims.

Which A8 model is this ? Apologies if it's a rub-of-the-mill job, but I haven't see the W12 badge before.

It's the 'top of the range' (read most powerful) A8 which has VAGs W12 engine (two V6s mated into a W shape). AFAIK it's the same engine from the bentley conti gt, but without the turbos.

Yup, the two VAG 3.0 V6 units, damn those things sound great.

Oh yes! The monsterous W12 only available in the limo long wheelbase version of the A8.
