Hi, I hope somebody out there can help please!

My neighbour's 2001 A4 saloon has an electrical problem that drains the battery over a few days. If they don't use the car for a day or so then the alarm starts going off. The neighbours have now gone away for a few days and surprise, surprise, the alarm is sounding around every 15 minutes.

I reckon if I can get it hooked up to a battery charger it will give us all some peace. Only problem is we haven't got the keys. Any suggestions on how to get the bonnet open, or alternatively how easy is it to get at the starter motor from under the car (I'm guessing I could attach a battery charger to the main power feed there).

Any help very gratefully received.

Hmmm, how to get in to the bonnet without the keys eh?? scratchchin

Smash window (the alarms already going off! hehe), pop bonnet- job done.

Seriously, the battery is not accessible either from under the car or without the bonnet open. Is there anyone looking after the house who has access to a spare set? Maybe get in touch with them?

I did look under the car but the engine bay is all enclosed - that's why I was asking about access to the starter motor. Wouldn't have wanted to start dismantling their car to find I still couldn't hook anything up.

Fortunately I think they got the voicemail I left them as somebody took the car away for a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon. Was going off again from 4.30 this morning though... aaaaaargh!!!!!!!!!!
