i have different brand of tyres all around on my golf, but the thing that worries me is the fact that there all different in width (speed rating). E.G. the right back tyre is considerably wider than the left back tyre. Is this something to be worried about?

Yes! If someone has been mixing and matching I'd get yourself 4 new ones and a proper 4 wheel camber, castor and toe ASAP.

oh right. well im buying 4 new tyres off my mate. All Hankooks and there all the same size. But the car judders very heavily under braking at motorway speeds. At low speeds even under light braking it feels as though the ABS is kicking in, problem there?

Different sizes of tyres will rotate at different speeds. This will confuse the ABS sensors.

So are you saying you have 4 different make of tyres on all four alloys. Bloody hell. eek You have to ask, have the tyres been balanced?

...and the speed rating is different to the width, it's designated by a letter.
