Im getting a new A3 Cabriolet for the good lady.....

Ive finally got her to get something a bit decent her current car is a Hyundai Getz,
not the the best Super mini but its been very reliable and now its off the in-laws.
To be driven a 1,000miles a year :O)

Anyway the wife likes wants the cab. but Ive read a 1.4 is coming out and she wants that,
I told them at the dealers and they didnt know it was coming out....

Ive read its coming out before the end of the year does anyonow when?

Thanks in advance

There is a 125bhp 1.4TFSI (Turbocharged) unit already available across the range in the A3 & A3 Sportback, and it's without doubt that the engine will soon join the current line-up in the A3 Cabriolet once it gets off the ground. The A5 was released with a small range of available engines but shortly after release more and more found their way under the bonnets.

I'm not sure when it'll appear, perhaps it's already here as Tame Technitions posts suggests but I can see it on either Audi-DE or Audi-UK's configurators.

I had one for photography a couple of weeks ago, was the 2.0T - super little car, prefer it to the 1 series cabrio. Might be worth trying the 2.0t? Economy was pretty decent (no need to work the engine hard) & performance was excellent. Felt quite stiff for a chopped hatch.

Isn't it the VAG 1.4 turbo and supercharged engine already seen in the golf?

I would happily have the 2.0l but my wife doesnt like big engined cars....

Though she does drive the M5 occassionally

As the A3 is for her she has to choose it and all the trimmings, least I got her away from the Megane which she wanted first :O(

Audi Manchester need to buck their ideas up a bit, the 1.4T-FSI is their new engine, the only 1.6 they do is the aged 105PS unit

The car I saw was an 1.8TFSI cab, sorry if I got your hopes up.

You can get the 1.4TFI in a hard top A3, but to quote our sales guys, "its coming soon" in cabriolet and in apparently TT too, not sure thats a good idea, its a bit flat you see, not very sports car ish.

As most Audi steelers have plenty of un-sold new A3 cabs in stock, I would opt for either a TDI or 1.8 FST and negotiate a nice fat discount.

You may be lucky however, to achieve maximum discount, you are normally best taking a car that they have in stock rather than spec your own factory order. Sytner have at least 7 A3 cabs with various specs in stock. I would aim for 10% discount, anything above 8% is quite good.

im sure a 1.4 will be out eventually. They eventually got the s-line out. Im looking at changing my existing A3 for the new A3...i wouldn't mind the cab. But its a 1.8...too expensive for me to insure, tax and fill with fuel. So a 1.4 is ideal. Just gotta wait. Perhaps next year?
-Could always ask the audi forums. (london-picadilly)

On the subject of upcoming A3 Cabriolet derivatives; does anyone know if or when quattro will be available?

I expect he actually is dumb, and was just acting smart the rest of the time... just like the Mini dealer that told me that the new Mini Cab would be a folding hard top...
