Hi

I am still looking to buy a Q7 or an X5
No really I am smile

The web is full of RR. Disco and RR Sport owners complaining about how little their cars are worth trade at a year old but I cant find an equivalent forum for Q7, X5 or ML owners

Please note I cant magine any of the above are immune from horrific drops in price, especially the ML, and thus Im really interested in finding a cheap one with as bigger a motor as poss as that will be an even bigger bargain smile

So Audi dudes.....

Is there a Q7 forum hidden anywhere online?
Do any of you have any PX experiences to share?
And please shatter the myth that V8 diesels and petrols are immune to depreciation as my local dealer and all of the brokers who replied to me have insisted whilst trying to flog me an overpriced car

Fact 1: A franchised dealer recently sold a 6 month old V8 Allroad at 50% off list (I wad too slow)

Fact 2: Discoverys and RR Sports are openly selling for approx the same discount at 6-12 months old

Fact 3: I have been offered a new 3.0 Q7 at a discount of over 20% from a broker for a UK car (spec was good actually) so discounts are out there, its just that I was a S/H car not a new one for a better bargain smile

I just cannot belive the V8 cars are trading at book, or even over

So if anyone can point me to a Q7 forum Id be very grateful

I actually do want to buy one at 6-12 moths old
Id even offer over and above what a dealer is offering in PX

I am sincerely not revelling in others pain but this car MUST be taking a hammering second hand

Cheers

I would 100% go for the deisel if you opt for the Q7. The 3.0 TDI is powerfull enough without being to thirsty. Saying that the 4.2 is really good but does de-value quicker than the 3.0. The petrols seem to lose money quicker than anything else.

We are currently selling 07/07 - 07/57 models around early to mid thirties depending on spec these probably cost about £45000 new. These have always been available with around 10% discount if you shop around. I would seriously consider the new one at 20% that is too good a deal not to and at that margin is being sold at a loss so pound for pound a much better deal than you will get on a used vehicle.

The only other advice would be on spec try to get one with the tech and comms pack and if you go for an SE the off road styling pack is a very good feature you also get full leather and heated seats as standard. If you fancy the S-line beware the car only has half leather as standard and no heated seats.

Hope this helps any questions please feel free to E-mail.

Your a brave man to buy something like that these days but i suppose if the price is ok an you intend to keep it for the long run it wont be so bad.

Last time i spoke to BMW dealer (on very good terms with) he was telling me some horror stories one was about the guy trying/wanting to trade his range rover v8tdi hse, the car booked at 42k but the best bid from any dealer (landrover) was 10k below the book.

Any dealer saying different is bullsting the best way to find there (true) values is to ring up some garages and see what they would offer you for the type of cars you are looking to purchase outright or as a tradein, thats if they dont just hang up LOL...

Have already spoken to 3 dealers on the phone earlier this week:

Pretending I own 6 months old 4.2 TDi that I need to shift
Nav, comms and xenons

(Cost new approx 60k)

Offers of between 30-32k in PX

Yet they have them on their forecourts at 45k minimum for the same age

Madness

So, quite a lot of negotiation room for you to get stuck into biggrin

06/56 3.0TDi Q7's are being advertised by Non Francise dealers for 24,995. This is the same price as you would expect an 06/56 Disco HSE to be advertised at. I have spoken to friends at Maer and BMW dealers and the same depreciation is being felt by their 4x4 customers.

I have owned both a Q7 and Disco 3 and find the Disco a much better car from a practical, running cost point of view.

David

Thanks for the post

08 plate Disco HSE's are now 28k at LR dealers
Thats versus "45k" when new, or 38k from a broker

Scary !!!!

All 4 x 4's are suffering similar depreciation. For example, bloke brought a Cayenne CTS 8 months ago for 70K, was bid just over 32K last week by the supplying OPC.

Audi have been selling Q&'s at huge discounts to leasing companies because they were not selling. That's why you can lease a new 30TD s-line for 499 per month. Imagine what they will be worth when these all flood the market.
