Crunching noise

this is now become a big problem for me. Its a really crunchy noise in the morning betwwen 1000-3000 revs. and just driving it now, it sounds like a grinding noise at about 2000revs. Its the sort of noise when you almost stall the car. what could this be? im not willing to go to the stealer without knowing what it is. thanks in adavnce guys
