Had some Nokian tyres (who are they?!) since I bought the car 15 months ago and as they were fairly worn I replaced them with 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1s about 6 weeks ago.

With the Nokians I easily averaged 50-51 mpg on a motorway run at 80 leptons. Since putting on the Goodyears this has dropped to 44 mpg! I've had a major (40,000 mile) service since putting on the new tyres and fuel consumption remains the same, even had the wheel balance checked as I had a slight wobble at higher speeds but that has made no difference.

Anyone have any ideas? Surely changing tyres doesn't make that sort of difference to fuel consumption?

ETA: Have also checked tyre pressures to ensure they are correct. Been looking at some other posts on PH and looks like some others have experienced a similar drop in mpg!
