I have recently purchased a 07 Touaraeg Altitude and whilst I'm loving the motor, I'm finding the Sat Nav to be terrible, especially lack of Post Codes (In Yorkshire). It has the RNS2 DVD Based system. I've looked around the net and found update discs are available... are they worth the outlay (will it improve considerably) or should I just dig out my trusty and reliable 5 year old Tom Tom!

I'm assuming you mean the MFD2, not the RNS 510?

Neither have full postcode mapping which is disappointing, but the RNS 510 does at least give you 5 digit post codes on the latest update.

The MFD2 is quite old, and yes - it's rubbish (IMHO!).

Guys, new to the site but suffering the same frustration with Postcodes, however VW have just told me the following serial numbers 7L6035191H, 7L6035191R, 7H0035191C and 7H0035191J can handle the updated disc which has full postcode - be warned though VW have given me duff info before.

I am also trying to get a car kit for my iPhone which enables it the same way as my previous Nokia did, any suggestions?

Hope the above works for you, would be interested to hear if it does, mine is going in next week to get checked out.

Just received the updated disc from VW and I guessed right the last time, the info they gave me was duff... it is still stuck with only 4/5 digits (depending on the 1st letter) of the postcode like the old disc. Have spoken to them again and they assure me that they were told it would work. It doesn't. It does now update traffic info etc. but to me that was never worth the cost of updating. Will keep tryinh though as the new disc updates the flash memory therefore I assume it can be updated to read full postcodes just someone down there hasn't done this yet.

I can never remember the various model names, but is there a full update option on the latest navigation system (touch screen with hard drive)? Gilbert Lawton in Manchester say no, but I thought I'd read it somewhere. Half the time I end up using my iPhone map instead of the sat-nav!

Cheers

have told me there is BUT like I said in an earlier post, they have given me duff information before. Bets of luck with it.
