Hi

Could anyone give me a quick idea of what the servicing costs would be on a 2005> Golf GTI DSG?

i.e. Minor, Major etc.

Thanks,

i think it depends if you're on longlife or time & distance. also depends on mileage etc.

Longlife is stupidly confusing for a customer.

Assume that Oil is between 9k and 18K regardless

Polen filter is 40K or 2 years
Air filter is 60K
Plugs are IIRC 40K on FSI engines (GTI is one)
DSG Oil is 40K (must be done or no warranty for you!)
Brake fluid is every 2 years. Or 3 years for the 1st one then 2 years after if car is a 08 chassis
CamBelt is advised at 60K but it says in the handbook something daft like 160K.

Difficult to price up

But "roughtly" £250 ish every couple of years, Its the oil that kils the price.

HtH a little

dont think air filter is at 60k as they did mine at 40k (not a GTI by the way). my golf was on longlife but i had it changed to time and distance as i preffered it. but mine was in excess of £300 for the second long life (40k miles) service that included brake fluid change.

Thanks guys.

So say for instance I find 2006 example with 19,000 miles on it, will that mean it's on distance and not longlife as thats about average miles per year?

I'd be doing 30-40 miles a day.

If you get a chance look in the service manual. I would suspect that its meant ot be 60K and that the idiot on the other side of the desk from yourself in the VW dealer didnt actually understand. On "older" cars with wither service regime it was 40K for the air filter. Seems too many VW dealers sell the wrong service too damn often!

Sadly i know this from experience!

60k for an Air Filter...... WTF. Worst way of making your MPG go down ever. Yopu should change that every year - or at least take it out of hoover it. Why suffocate the engine with a blocked filter!

160k for a rubber cambelt & the tensioners - that sounds way too much.

i dont know in all honesty when its meant to be changed but ill have a look in my manual. i thought it best to let my "trusted" VW dealer handle my VW as i thought they'd know best....hmmm

Oh that's not too bad.

Any ideas on the golf?

I had 10k, 20k and 40k service quotes at £160 £200 £280 respectively including longlife oil, vat, labour. Seems very reasonable!

If someone could give me an idea of what to pay for a gti cambelt...
