Car been off road now for about 12 month (A3 Turbo), going to buy a new battery a try and get it MOT'd - problem is there is a whine from the power steering (I've put a new pump on so can only assume it's the rack or some air got trapped when I fitted the pump), will it still pass an MOT with a whiney steering noise (it's loud but dosen't effect the steering at all).

Thanks if someone can answer this, I have looked around but cannot find anything on it.

Is it a belt tensioner pully?

Yes providing there are no leaks anywhere, or play in the rack etc.

The noise will be an advise

I'll get under and check it out, just before I took it off the road a year ago it had new belt, tensioner and water pump etc. I reset the tensioner in the correct postion when I fitted the power steering pump but I will check it out tomorrow thanks.

Can anyone answer whether it will pass an mot with a power steering whine?
