Audi A6 Multitronic
Discussion
Considering a new A6 Avant company car - with the 2.0tdi 170 engine. I fancy having auto box this time - having had years of manuals. What is the multitronic like on these cars ?, option for manual gear selection as well as full auto ? Having had a 520d touring for the last few years (first diesel car), had to adapt to the crap pull away / acceleration in first & second gears unless revving the hell out of it before engaging the clutch - the "flat spot" effect when you pull out at roundabouts is not great - do you still get this with Multitronic, or is this just a feature of diesels generally ? (those with less than 200bhp). Driven plenty of auto's on higher powered engines - Merc 320d / BMW 335d which I find great fun - but how does the auto compare on less powerfull engines ? - do they have enough "grunt" when pulling off from standstill ?
Any advice from multitronic drivers appreciated.

The multitronic is the smoothest of the automatic but it has had its problem.
I drive a a6 with the 2.5 V6 remapped and I have no issue.

Makes for interesting reading - seems the multitronic is not without its problems. May stick to what I am used to (manual) & spend the money on something else off the options list - electric memory seats appeal, spend an eternity getting seat position just right, then the wife gets in & buggers it up, just pressing a button to get the seat back to normal appeals - i'm a lazy sod !
