Have been looking at a Cupra K and test drove a normal Cupra at my local dealers, but was a bit underwhelmed by the power.

At this point I was advised he'd keep me posted on a special edition one coming out for the new reg's in Mar 09, called it a 'plato edition'.

Does anyone know anything about this ? He said its going to be considerably faster and based more around the BTCC car but I've not been able to find any info apart from something about 100 for the Dutch market ?

I'm also considering a Focus RS, so would be very interested if SEAT do have something up their sleeves with an extra 40-50 bhp or so ?

Any inside information would be appreciated before I buy something else then wish i'd waited !!

Cheers guys

Thats the only 'special' that i'm aware of - As a SEAT Dealer we have not been advised yet as most of the stuff thats ready for launch in March like the Ibiza Cupra and possibly Exeo are already talked about.

Be interesting if they do somehting though

Hi guys, the one I was looking into has been confirmed as being shipped out with a revotecknik (sp?) remap taking it close to the 300 bhp mark.

Would be interesting to drive one that had had this done first, not sure that'll be an option though! The standard car is certainly underpowered and the chassis could easily handle an extra 50 brake IMO.

I'm not sure that underpowered is the term I'd use rolleyes

Yes the chassis could easily cope with more power, lots of people have had decent re-maps in excess of 300bhp.

All the competition, i.e Focus ST, Astra VXR, Megane have similar levels of power when standard i.e 230 - 240

Having owned a Cupra since February, I've found the way it deploys the power is sublime - no hint of torquesteer or drama that some of the models above seem to suffer from.

It's not always about raw HP.

I'm sure if you wait long enough, they'll be a facelifted Leon along.
