Audi A4 2.5 tdi
Discussion
Hi, I am contemplating buying a 1998 A4 saloon with the 2.5 tdi engine, manual, 67k, FSH in silver. It is up for around 3000 and seems like an honest car. I have , however, heard rumours that this engine is not the most reliable. I know the PD engines will do 200,000+ miles without any issues and I would have thought a larger capacity multi cylinder diesel would be even better than that? I will be doing 100 miles on the motorway each day rather than driving around country lanes and B roada if that makes a difference.
Thanks
Thanks
I have run one of these for the last 2 years and 40000 miles. Now has 94k on clock and has been totally reliable. Quite good acceleration and so much nicer to drive than the 1.9 tdi. Average 45-50 mpg. My car has the 6 speed manual gearbox. Only selling it because my long commute is now over.
