THIS IS THE SORT OF EMAIL YOU GET

They send you actual pics off autotrader and all the chassis and engine numbers from a REAL car

the email reads:

I should have mentioned that I live in Germany now,my mother is German and I decided to start things over and settle here after a bad marriage and a nasty divorce... it took me a while to sort things out. The car is here as well,I brought it with me as I had no intention to sell it initially.
The price is £3100 Its rather low because I wanted sell it here to local dealers and they told me they cannot buy such a model because no one here is interested in buying a RHD car registered in UK, due to the great fees to maintain and register such a vehicle. So I decided to lower my offer and advertise it only on the british market.

I am just trying to sell this car because I need a new vehicle as soon as possible, actually I have my eyes on a 2006 BMW 320d.
Let me know if you are still interested.

THIS IS THE ANSWER YOU GET IF YOU REPLY AND SAY ITS A SCAM

And you smartass have been reported to my connections in the UK,I have your IP so they will easily find your address. They can't wait to have a chat with you, maybe next time you will keep your stupid gay mouth shut...
You should watch your back if you're going out in the evening...fking retard!!
I can't wait to hear from them, you're on my black list so they will get their hands on you!

THEN YOU GET ANOTHER EMAIL FROM A DIFFERENT EMAIL ADDRESS SAYING...

Hi there, the Audi TT is still available for the price of £6,000.
The car is in excellent overall condition, 90% tread left on the tires, always garaged, never smoked in, not even a mark, dent or scratch on the paintwork.
There is not any finance outstanding on the car.
Please email me back soon and let me know if you are interested.
All the best

Hi there.

I hope that you will be reporting this to the Police.

I have advertised my own car on Autotrader and have had 2 email replies which are obviously scams. I am sending the details to Devon and Cornwall Police HQ.

Perhaps a BIB who posts on this website could advise if the Police would be willing to follow this sort of thing up. Clearly they can find paedophiles on the internet and therefore they should be able to find the individual who responded to you.

His/her email is very threatening and therefore a criminal offence has definitely been committed.

I have seen many scam ads on this website and I always report them to the Administrator. Some are removed, others are not...

Hello,

I regret the delay of my response regarding my 2004 AUDI TT QUATTRO (225) RED LEATHER INTERIOR .

I already have many emails so I hope you'll understand that I need to sort them.

My name is Angela Kutzkova I have 31 years old and I was doctor for 3 years in Exeter, Devon . I am glad you are interested in my car AUDI TT the price is 3,000GBP.

First, I want you to know that I lived in Exeter until 2 months ago, but now I'm in Bulgaria because I am pregnant and I have decided to give birth in my home country so I want to sell my car and move back in Bulgaria .

The car is in perfect working condition. It's in showroom condition, no scratches, no dents, full service history, HPI clear, no outstanding finance, non-smoking, never involved in any accident and it has 34,400 miles.

The car is still registered in UK . If you decide to buy it you will receive the original invoice, logbook, keys and all the documents to register it into your name .

Genuine reason for sale: unfortunately I can't register the car here because you know it is very hard to drive a Right-hand car here.

Here are some details about my car:

2004 AUDI TT 1.8 T Quattro 2dr [225] Coupe, VERY good condition. Beautiful red leather interior makes this car a real head turner. All standard equipment for 225bhp model with following extras:

* BOSE speaker system,

* 6 CD autochanger,

* Ebony Black Pearl effect paint,

* Red leather upholstery.

In-Car Audio Options: AM/FM Stereo, Cassette Player, CD Multichanger, Premium Sound System

Safety Features: 4-Wheel Drive, Alarm, Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS), Driver Airbag, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Immobiliser, Passenger Airbag, Rear seat belts, Safety Belt Pretensioners, Side Airbags, Xenon headlight

Interior/Comfort Options: Climate Control, Electric heated seats, Leather Seats, Power-assisted Steering (PAS), Power Windows, Tilt Steering Wheel

All tyres recently changed (Michellin Pilot Sport).

If you want to proceed please send me your ADDRESS to calculate the delivery cost and to book the car for you.

Here are some pictures with the car . Just click on the links below :

This was another email i got from this so called Dr this one really got me thinking.

Hi
As I told you before the car is in perfect working condition. It's in showroom condition, no scratches, no dents, full service history, HPI clear, no outstanding finance, non-smoking, never involved in any accident.
I want 3,000 GBP and I want to mention that the shipping of the car to your door is free.
Due to the amount involved and due to the fact that I am not located in United Kingdom, I only accept third party transaction mediator.
Please take a time and read this email with attention, because I want you to understand how the transaction works.
I have chosen the eBay Vehicle Shipping Service to take care of all the proceedings, the car will be shipped by eBay because it is already in ebay wearhouse in UK.
Beside shipping the car from their wearhouse to your address, eBay will act as the middle man - holding the payment until you receive and inspect the car. You will have one week inspection period.
Regarding to the payment method I would like to use eBay like a third part for the payment because in my opinion this is the safest way to handle the transaction. You will have the car for inspection and test drive BEFORE any money is released to me.
Look how this work:
1. I will contact them , and I will send your shipping information to eBay to open the transaction.
2. They will send you a payment invoice for the car (the invoice will be from customer support team) about how to make the payment..
3. The invoice contains all the information about this transaction and you must follow the steps written there to complete the deal with me.
4. After all that will be done, the car will be shipped by eBay, and the car will arrive at your address in 3 to 5 days..
5. Buyer accepts delivery and informs eBay if he is satisfied or not
6. Ebay will release the money to the seller(in case the buyer is satisfied) or to the buyer(in case that he is not satisfied).
This means a 3rd party.
You will receive a tracking # in the same day when the car will be shipped from eBay.
I am using the protection and shipping program offered by eBay Shipping Center because this will protect both of us and also it is the fastest way to complete this deal.
If you want to go on with this deal , email me immediately and I will contact ebay to start the transaction.
Let me know if you are still interested ...

After checking the actual book price of this car i realised its to good to be tru so i asked her again why so cheap and this was my next repky lol

The price is 3000 including shipping and transfer fees , I sell it cheaper because I need money to give an advance here in Bulgaria for an apartment and I'm in big hurry because in 1 month I will give birth.

Phumy, you are wrong.

It is most definitely an offence under The Communications Act, Malicious Communications Act, and possibly also The Public Order Act to send malicious, abusive, or threatening emails. Conviction under any of these Acts can lead to a substantial fine and/or imprisonment.

It's quite obviously a Scam email, and you were obviously sure of the fact it was, so why bother entertaining it with a reply in the first place?

It's just usual run of the mill spam bullst that's been going on for years.

Yes, in this country. Good luck trying to pin a charge on them in Nigeria.

In todays Britain probably not much unless they receive a large number of complaints. My girlfriends' sister has just started as a probationary constable with Thames Valley Police and is shocked by how much time officers have to spend filling out pointless forms rather than actually doing the job they signed up for. Mr Brown's government is apparently entirely to blame for this, as the majority of the forms are used to collate statistics which are then twisted around to show that the Government has met one or more of its' stated targets for crime reduction.

If everyone makes enough fuss about this sort of thing then someone in authority will probably look into it. In the meantime the administrators of this site might like to consider if they need to vet adverts more carefully.

However, sending an email threatening violence is.

Not that the police will care or be able to do anything about it...

Hi guys

Remember that if you get a dodgy reply like the ones above (many of them are just cut-paste jobs used on multiple scams), or have any other reason to suspect an ad may be a scam, please click the 'Report' button so that we can be alerted and take a look. We're trying to flush these so-and-sos out, but they keep coming back with different accounts and email addresses. We'll need all of your help!

Thanks

Simon
