Any advice that can be given to me as I am seriously looking at the S4 over the 3.2 cabriolet, now as the prices on the S4 are far more competitive than the 3.2. Will go for either a 2006 or 2007.
What would be the real difference in running costs, as on paper they are marginal and at a combined fuel consumption of 25.4 (3.2) and 22.4 (S4) are these numbers realistic?
Would I notice that much difference in performance between the two.
The car will be a long term keeper so will look for high specification, but seems around 23-24K should secure a nice car.
Noticed that beck Evans have an 06 with 28,000 miles for 18,990 which is unbelievable.

I have owned the 3.0 Quattro cab (B6) and now the S4 cab (B7) 2006. The beck evans car does'nt have full leather, does'nt have full sat nav (which is very odd as it was standard as was full leather). I also think that car is plus vat.

Anyway, I have noticed no real difference in fuel economy between the 2 cars. I achieve approx 18mpg around town (most of my driving as I live in the Norwich) and easily 23-24mpg on a motorway run.

I also test drove a 3.2 just before buying the S4, fuel economy aside the S4 looks far nicer with its aluminium wing mirrors, wheels and of course is far quicker and sounds absolutely gorgeous. If it's fuel economy you are worried about I'd get a 3.0tdi or the 1.8t but choosing between these two I'd definately go for the S4 no questions..

No sales involved they are all fantastic, well built solid cars but mine is also for sale;

Paul, thanks for the info and your car is stunning I had looked at it before, but a little out of my intended budget.
On the S4 are there major maintenance issues that I should be aware of, the S4 does not suffer with DSC problems like the RS does it?, what would major service costs be like?
To others on the forum any advice welcome.
In regard to the Beck Evans car, I have aksed them about the VAT situation, their prices are very competitive on all the cars they have in stock though, and also asked them about the specification and if it originally a UK supplied and specced car. I am not a great lover of alcantara but for that price phew...or maybe its where 4.2 Audis are heading in this climate. It does have a sat nav, when you say its not a full sat nav, can you clarify?
Thanks Rob

All the B7 S4's had RNS-E as standard, I dont know all the differences but it's a larger screen and full colour (the beck evans one is red/orange only and a smaller screen). It has to be a replacement for some reason. I had a service in June and it was circa £300 for its full 20k/2 year service. Dont know of any known issues with either S4 or 3.2.

Mine has had a rear quarter window repaired under warranty (it was sticky) other than that no issues at all. My price can be negotiated wink I'll see if I can pm you a piccy of my sat nav so you can see the difference. The S4 should also have a full colour DIS.
