Hey guys & gals,

As the title says really, where could you buy the R36 engine if you wanted to do a conversion?

Looking way ahead wink at the possibility of doing this in the future.

Storm developements have already done one into a MK2 Golf so they could be worth speaking to for advice.

To put in what car? Remember that it is longitudinal installation in the Passat.

Correct as they run a mk2 R36 and also a R36 powered mk2 Rallye which is due to be rotrex'd to! Strictly Dubs would also be worth a shout.

My brother went to Storm on Monday an says they currently have 6 R36 + a few R32 engines available but some will be used in conversions. It would seem there are several mk2 golfs down there having serious amounts of work done!

OP - what do you intend to do with the R36 engine. Be aware that it is a Direct injection engine like the 2.0 TFSI engines and has a seperate ECU for the fuel pump. Someone i know who builds/races VWs has estimated that a R36 conversion could cost up to £20k due to the management side of things and sourcing the additional parts that you need to run the engine + the labour involved. When he spoke to Storm they were very hush hush about how they have got their R36 golf running and what type of management they are using in it....
