I'm a great fan of mid range VWs having had a number of them and over the past couple of years both an Eos and Gti with the 2.0T-FSi engine in them.

Had my eye on the new Scirocco for my everyday car and today had the opportunity for a test drive...

What a disappointment - then engine/chassis as expected.. but the visibility.. well..

OK, wasn't expecting the 'over the shoulder' to be great - our 3dr GTi is poor to start with, but they don't seem to have lowered the seats from the Golf one bit - so your eyeline is looking at the join of the (extremely thick) A-Pillar and roof - blocks seeing traffic on a roundabout very nicely, and the rear view mirror is right in your eye line, also because of the way the roof tapers back the line of site out of the back is horribly shortened... (the head rests I can live with - we've a mini cab too so we're used to that!!)

So, no Scirocco for me - nearly broke the seat height mechanism trying to get it lower.. and I'm 'only' 5'10".. a real shame as the rest of the car I really like...

How are current ownes, or others who have test driven the car, found this

I have had one for 4 weeks now having had a GTI before.

Rearward visibility was a bit of a problem at first, but I soon got used to it. Hving said that, if I was buying again, I would probably have specced the parking sensors just to make sure.

Still LOVE the car though :-)

Michael.
