I need to change my phone and thought I might as well get one which will interface with my 2006 A8.

I'll probably go nokia, possibly Sony or just maybe Iphone. Are there any models which are particularly good or very bad with the car's clever electronics.

Do I then just get a cradle and off I go, or is it a bit more involved than that?

Thank all

Do you have Bluetooth phone preparation? If so, i would avoid Sony, I couldn't get either of my Sony phones to work all that well, particularly I get horrible noises when hanging up, and fake calls based on the last received call. (Car is a 2007 A6)

Blackberry and Nokia work great

Thanks

I've just got a load of electonic contacts in the space under the central armrest between the two front seats

Is that what you mean?

No, bluetooth peparation is wireless but does have a few contacts in the arm rest for a charging cradle( but you dont have to have this). The phone menu on MMI should tell you if you have bluetooth, or get a bluetooth phone(most modern mobiles) and do a device search see if it finds your audi. If it does you have bluetooth, if not you will need a cradle and I would suggest you should discuss it with a dealer.

can only comment on the iphone - I've found it works fine with the mmi in the car, but it won't download my contacts, so I either have to manually call from the phone (which, when connected via bluetooth will use the handsfree or I have to manually enter in the phone number into the mmi which takes ages.
