Hi Guys

Been wondering about this one for a while.

Definitely want to make one of these my next car, and its going be a Keeper, certainly for 4/5 years so its a tricky decision...

Now I obviously want the best deal. And for that I keep thinking that an RS will hold its value much better than just an S model. But the 5 is a new platform, and the S5 is a pretty desirable car, with allot of poke.. only 0.1 off the 1/4 mile time of the RS4.. Which did surprise me..

The S5 is meant to be really tuneable too, and with a few mods you can see an extra 30bhp, and I believe they actually are 350bhp.. Where as ive herd most RS4s around the 390/380bhp point...

As gay as it sounds, the Tiptronic tempts me on the S5 too... Coming from a DSG box i really have got used to an automatic... ok ive become bloody lazy... lol getmecoat

There's something design wise that doesn't really sit with me on the S5 aswell. Its just too S-line.. And if the RS5 has all new body parts like the RS4, that's going to be the one to own.....

This isn't a help me decide as I have very little brain power myself thread, im just interested in what people think... Its all going to come down to the test drives me thinks... And what a day that will be.. lol....spin

...RS4, any day of the week.

I've owned one from new and have just changed it for another one. I've driven it, track'ed it, done the shopping in it, picked up the kids in and have found no other that comes close. amazing handling, acceleration, torque, sound... plus still respected out there in tarmac land.

Before I made the decision to get another one I tried the M3 / C63 / Lexus thing... and none came close.

The thing for me is that I need to have the four (decent) seats to get it past the entertainment protection officer; and can find nothing else.

Plus the dealers are dropping their trousers at the moment... got nearly 4k off a two yr old black number with 16k on the clock @ £28k.

Trust me; it's a stunning piece of kit.

SOLD!!!! he he....

Dave thats a bargain.. I personally wanna pay exaxtly what you did for the same sorta spec car.. IMO i think thats what there worth.. not the 35k some dealers are asking...

Do you mind me asking if it was a main dealer?

How easy is it to free them up a little more?

...yes a main Audi approved dealer in London. and that's probably the only people I'd recommend buying from. their 2nd hand cars go through an intensive check and end up looking like new. plus you get 1 yrs warranty.

i thought the last Fri in Jan would be a good time to buy; especially with all the new plates coming.

found at least 6 dealers who had what I wanted. most RS4s are fully loaded so just concentrated on colour (blk this time), low mileage, the right alloys, non-crazy leather, sat-nav... then when the last change of pads & discs were(can be juicy)

then made the call to each of the dealers and just watched as they bid against eachother. won't give too much away as the chap I bought from did do the decent thing and looked after me properly.

i'd imagine it won't happen again in my lifetime, but it was a real pleasure for once to have the upper hand against the dealers.

if you've got the dosh, now is defineily the time to buy.

Nice one Dave, Sounds promising...

Ive got another 6 weeks to wait myself, which i guess will feel like 6 months... My main worry is that people are starting to buy again it seems so price may stick...

Ill definately be asking about the Disk/Pad change too, cheers for that....
