have just bought a 2006 RS4 avant which i'm very excited about.

All good with the DRC and its still got 8 months of warranty to go...

prob be back on here asking typical new owner questions

Exactly the colour I'd go for, black with black optics pack. Gorgeous!

They have been painted.

The RS4 comes with brushed ali finish and are plastic

did originally - previous owner bought a pair of black ones to complete the stealth look of the black optics pack (grill & roof rails)

that said - judging by mlost of the reaction to it this first weekend - it's not *that* stealth like....

Congratulations. Black RS4 Avants are by far the fastest.
The wing mirrors look good - the brushed aluminium ones always stand out a bit too much for me if left with black optics.
Are the front windows tinted by the way?

Yes they are - only slightly though - think the angle and reflections exagerate....

Spend most of the weekend driving -

then today cleaning - left my camera at work though - bah!

so far so good....

true of saloons too, although I prefer the mirrors in ali (see pic)

Possibly true, with the exception of my Daytona grey example which had a note in the glovebox indicating that as it was a nice day in the Fatherland,they had given my car additional power (In excess to that of a black one) as a gesture of goodwill & to further their international relationship with the UK.

I looked high and low for a car with black optics pack, but couldn't find one anywhere. I originally wnated the piano black inlays as well, but in retrospect the CF looks pretty good.

Hope you enjoy the car. What do you think of the S button?

I love the black optics, but would still have the brushed aluminium look mirrors, as they are a RS trademark.
