If you do, you should have a read of the following PDF ..

This is NO joke and YOU should take a look to protect the performance of your FSI engine.

I have uploaded it to share.

Does that mean you believe me now when I say the fuel never touches the valve in an FSI engine.

Also some of the pictures shown are wrong, the 3 pics showing results compared with other brands products don't show any part of an inlet track I've ever seen, All a bit misleading. And I cant see the point of putting anything in the tank, that only likely to clean much off the inside of the tank and send it to the high pressure pump.

Technician in a tin, hhhhhmmm.

I can imagine the spray may help remove some of the oil muck from the back of the inlet valves, but if your gonna use it, don't spray it through the air mass meter, they really don't like things like that.

Well I hate to say I never said that ... I have always known what FSI is ...

What is now important is that people are informed about the carbon build up on the 'dry' side.

I do agree about the Maff ... which is easy to by-pass in the RS4, but Wynn, have stated it is not a problem and will do no harm ... I assume they have tested it.

I've noticed VW have rather quietely killed of there entire range of FSI N/A petrols over the last 18 months, and brought back to life some old engines from the MK4 Golf.

I suggest you contact volkswagen or audi customer services before even using a third party product like this, you may severely screw the engine up and to be honest, if ingolstadt or wolfsburg have missed this issue (if it is one and not vapour ware) I would be very suprised...they are so intense about their engine designs and test things to death..........This is one product that wont be going near my engine....

I had endless running problems with a FSH 40k miles Audi A2 FSI. It spent 4 months in the tender care of a tenacious tech at a dealer. Eventually they did an old fashioned de-coke which fixed the problems, the tech acknowledged this was a problem Audi were seeing more of on FSI engines, and had made changes to the Fsi system. Of course, nothing was in writing.

FSi was replaced with TSi in keeping with the "downsizing" concept of using lower capacity engines with forced induction to reduce CO2 emissions improve economy and performance. All the TSi engines utilise FSi technology.

Which old engines do you mean? the 1.8TSi thats in the passat is a different engine to the old 1.8T.

It was supposed to mean fuel stratified charge, which is basically injecting the fuel in a different manner, aiming it at one part of the combustion chamber to allow for really lean mixtures and therefore excellent fuel ecconomy. This would happen on light throttle cruise and the rest of the time the fuel would be injected in the normal "Homogeneous" manner.

But it didnt work the engines ran so lean they melted there valves and they ran rough with cheap petrol and customers complained about the engines pinking and rubbish drivablility, which was the engine changing modes. This could be massively improved by using high octane fuel, but no one did.

So it was deleted, but Audi had to have a name for the engines so FSI stayed on the badges, now it just refers to Direct fuel injection.

The rough running and poor drivability etc is now all ok since the mode switch was dropped but the inlet valves get covered in crap still because all the crankcase ventilation and the egr goes through the inlet but no fuel does to wash it all away. So all that sticky oil and soot builds up on the valves. There is a TPL about it and i think it actually recommends a Wynes product to fix it, I'll have a look tomorrow if I get a minute and post what is says.

I realise the 1.8 TSI is a new engine.

The engines I refer to are the 1.4 N/A (75/80) and the 1.6 N/A (102). I seem to remember VAG replaced them with some pretty good 1.4 FSI and 1.6 FSI units. Both the FSI engines have now dissaperered from every car they ever apperared from, and ye olde 1990s N/A stuff has come back. I don't get this.

i wasn't aware they ever dropped the 1.4 80? as for 1.4FSi and 1.6FSi both have been replaced with 1.4TSi 122

VW quietely dropped the 1.4 FSI from the Polo Sport and replaced it with a 1.6 N/A

Likewise the MK5 Golf at launch had the 1.4 FSI and 1.6 FSI as entry engines, the MK6 has the old school 1.4 & 1.6 N/A.

The Touran also had the 1.6 FSI for a brief period, and now it has the 1.6 N/A. Smame with the Audi A3.

we must have a different engine line up in ireland. the old 1.6 has been dropped from everything bar the beetle and all the FSi instalations are now TSi.

Yeah must be. We get the old 1.6 in nearly everything, the Polo, Golf MKVI, Beetle, Touran and on the Audi side the A3, A3 Sportback and A3 Convertible. Its really about time it got laid to rest, and the FSI engines that are no longer available where a lot better (IMO).

i have a 1.4 FSI Mk5 golf, should I be worried? it does drive a bit sh** at times, im told this is how it should be, not what i expected really but oh well. dont porsche now use direct injection uswel? is that the same technology as FSI?

FSI is the VAG offering for direct petrol injection. How is that different to any other manufacturers direct injection ( as opposed to multipoint injection) designs?

Now It isnt. Its exactly the same as all the other manufacturers Direct Petrol Injection.

But I think it was suppose to be different originally, unless all the other manufactures were going to do stratified charge engines too??.

OK so all direct injection engines should suffer carbon build up by the valves as there's no fuel to clean them up?
