Hello

I'm using a 2004 A4 estate and one of the brake lights is out. I have a spare bulb but can anyone tell me how to actually get into the light unit to change it?

The manual says it's a job for a mechanic but I just find it a bit hard to believe that they won't even let you change a bulb. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

You have to take the light unit out. Its only one screw but you then have to prise the lamp away from the body, easy to scratch the paint, I use a plastic trim tool and put tape on the car body just incase. The screw is behind a little round cover in the boot trim, should be pretty obvious when you have a look in the boot.

Yes, I took that cover off and started undoing the screw/bolt but didn't want to take it off completely as I was worried about it dropping down behind the trim. So once you have that off, you just lever the light unit out from the outside? I'll give that a try.

Thanks for the reply.
