A family member recently passed away and left us with a 1994 Audi S2 Coupe,
one owner, full Audi service history.
Had a look at it today, it need's a good clean (planning to spend a couple of day's on it over Easter) but the body work looks to be in very good condition, having a friend look at the mechanical side of things tomorrow.
If it doesnt need a fortune spending on it I'm tempted to have it myself, the only problem is that
it has nearly 200k on the clock, I havent seen the history so I don't know if it's had a rebuild or
new turbo etc etc.
There's a few in the classified's but none with this kind of mileage.

Anyone have any knowledge of these cars ?

Thanks

Hi,

I am a moderator on the S2Forum, so would recommend you come and take a look. www.s2forum.com

Firstly these cars will see 200,000 miles no problem, but of course history is important in that. If all has been maintained correctly the worst case you could be looking at is a turbo rebuild and head refresh in the relative near future. Generally they are bullit proof. My concours condition one has done 168,000 miles and drive like new.

The rest of the car could be expected to be mechanically sound. If looked after there should very little or no rust on the body anywhere either. Rust would suggest accident damage at some point.

As for value, I would suggest the following based on condition:

Mint : £5k - £6k
Average: £4 - £5
Poor less than that.

If you want any help at all post up on S2forum.

Cheers,

Steve.

Thanks Steve there is one rust spot at the end of the front bumper by the wing but thats all, about the size of a penny.
I'm getting more and more tempted to buy it, how easy are they to tune with reliability in mind, actually I'm off to have a look at the forum you mentioned that'd be the sensible thing to do wouldnt it

Completely agreed with Steve. smile

The car can easily be tuned to around 280bhp and if you chuck some money at it (around £2,500 with abit of hunting about) you can get around 380bhp.

An S2 with 200k miles isn't worth £4k, unless it has £3.5k worth of bolt on goodies.

I very recently sold mine for £5200.00, that was a 94 ABY with lot less miles but it had all sort after goodies on it. Totally standard with those miles, realistically I'd say you'd be looking around £3k depending on condition & history, dont forget its its a buyers market atm and the S2 is a niche car. If you're going to keep it get some decent brakes and get it chipped to 280bhp (depending on engine condition etc). That'll still see off most jap crap.

Fair enough, but it is totally condition dependent. I paid £7k for mine 5 years ago and it is still worth £7k all day long...

A snotter will only be worth £1k as you will need to spend £000's getting it even half right.

Of all the cars that have recently sold on PH, they have been in the £4.5k - £5.5k area. There are very few standard cars left, and they are holding their money well...

It is to you - but to you only.
I'm not trying to slate anyone's car, I'm just being realistic.

£7k is a lot of money for a car with stone chips and a rotten rear subframe. tongue out

I would agree circa £3k for the mileage. But I am guessing its a standard car which is becoming increasingly rare.

As far as tuning goes you can go utterly nuts, this engine is capable of galactic power.
