Buy a Audi, in less than 8 months the water pump failed, and the coil packs needed replacing, now tonight on the way home again coil packs gone.
The car is less than 5 years old, for god sake. My old Toyota had 160,000 on the clock, was never serviced and was 11 years old..... BUT IT NEVER GIVE ME THESE ISSUES......

If you replace all 4 when the first one goes, you dont have this repeat issue.
Waterpump is a mass produced £30 part, there will be a few out there that fail. We advise replacement of the pump when the cam belt is done to avoid people having to pay for the full replacement cost IF the pump fails later. Cost of water pump replacement alone, arround £300, cost of water pump ontop of cambet £50 max.
You have been quite unlucky, but these are parts prone to failure. The Germans are good, but you wont ever beat the Japs for reliability sadly.

Audi only replaced the one coil pack last time when it was in the Audi workshop under warranty. I would have paid the excess of 3 coil packs if they advised it.
The water pump was done under warranty, but is leaking again less than 13 months after the fit. Next service, cam belt new pump are being fitted....
Jap car = 13 months away.......

on 1.8t the coil packs do go from time to time. but i have read about new 1.8t lumps being a bit of a let down. vw had a prob on the first wave 1.8t but most were recalled to be replaced free of charge. dont get to dis heartd dude you colud do what i did and blow up my 20v pushing a m3 down the road then spent 2k on rebuilding the bloody thing to find out it was still broke after all the money i spent on it. but still a dub boy tho. hopefully dude you wont have any more probs.

No servicing, no faults even the 1997 electric ariel still worked lol
Ah, that's slightly different than not servicing it for 160,000 miles and 11 years, which is what you said originally. No servicing, no faults even the 1997 electric ariel still worked lol
