Hope you find your answers...

the chain system i believe is for life,

when was fsi brought in ?
got a bmw 530d tourer at mo,
far to stiff for my ageing bones,

Only the 05 on (facelift) single frame grille cars get a chain driven petrol V8 smile

Everything pre that is belt and an 80,000 mile interval.

I'm having a new water pump, thermostat and cambelt all changed by a west london audi/vw specialist and the total cost is about £850. It's around 5 or 6 hours labour according to the 5 garages I called for quotes. Audi themselves would charge £1,100 (inc VAT) for the same job.

ta for that aka8,
more the reason for going for a chaindrive,
dont have that big bill,
i have decided to get an a8 4.2
i like the look of the prefacelift betterthan the
big grill, classier i would say,
still think theres chain driven prior to 05,
all the best,

hiya norosport,
i only do 4000/5000 a year so mpg is not a problem,
is the deisel 4.2 better than the petrol 4.2 in this case,
more probs with the turbo, in the deisels case if you get ahighermiler,
round 80,000, 2 owners, you wont know were its been,,
if i was doing big miles i would go 2.0td
were we live is in the outback on pen llyn in wales,
no citys anywere, 4.2petrol will be nice and quite, and all that
