How do you change the brake light bulb??
Discussion
I'm looking for some advice, and I don't want flaming please - even though this should be a simple task.
I have an Audi A4 1.8 T quattro S-Line Avant (2004 model if it makes any difference) and I can't for the life of me work out how to change my off-side brake light bulb and the car is due an MOT.
Having consulted the owners manual it says "to take it to a specialist mechanic"...to change a bulb
. Surely you don't need to take your car to a stealer for them to change a bloody light bulb.
Any advise greatly received as I feel like a complete t
t, especially as I consider myself a Petrolhead.
Happy bank holiday and TIA.

Simply remove the rear light unit from the vehicle.......
Open the boot, you should see two round covers in the trim near where the lights are, pop these out, try not to loose them behind the trim. Then you can see a bolt or srew (usually 10mm bolt with flkat blade screwdriver type slot in it) that holes the rear light to the car. There should be something in the customer tool kit that fits. Once this is removed gently prize the light unit away from the body trying not to brake it or scrath the paint work. A bit of gaffer or masking tape can save you scratching anything.
Once you got the light off, separate the bulb holder from the light unit itself and extract the blown bulb with the usuall slight rotation anti clockwise.

If it were only that simple, there is a damn great amp or something like that in the way and cerainly no round covers in the trim covering the lights. Anyone else got any ideas??

What do you think I do for a living??
Have another look, the round covers I speak of are about the size of a ten pence peice, they dont cover rear access to the light but access to the screw that holds the light in. Once the light is removed you can change the bulb.
You dont need to take the sub out or anything like that, to change the bulb.
Purhaps you had better take it to you local Audi Centre as the handbook suggests.
