Hi All,

I've recently bought the wife a '55' reg 2.0 TDI Touran to replace her aging Zafira.

We're really pleased with it but i've noticed that the cruise control has a mind of it's own!

Despite the fact it is switched on it sometimes turns itself off of it's own accord and the light goes off on the dash. Sometimes it will come back on on it's own, other times it needs the ignition to be turn off and on again.

Anyone else had a similar issue and if so what was the solution.

Cheers

Most likely culprit is a faulty stalk - had to replace several of these when vehicles of this age were under warranty. If the vehicles got full service history you may get some goodwill from VW.
Hope that helps.

Also check the brake switch. Very cheap and common problem with the cruise control

Might be obvious, but if you use it under 40mph is can act up. Try it at higher speeds see if it still acts up

Not sure of the cause, but I recognise the problem exactly. Until recently I ran a 2005 GT TDi from new, and it once did exactly the same thing. My brother now has the car and it did it once more a few weeks ago... interesting that someone else has had the same thing happen.

It's due for a service in a few weeks - I'll tell the bro to mention it... not that in my experience that's likely to lead anywhere. Nice cars, hopeless dealer service..!
