Car is due for MOT, and typically, theres a load noise coming from the back. I've had it checked over by a mechanic and he says its rear wheel bearings.

My question is, on the Mk4 do these come as a whole hub? Or do I simply press old ones out and put new bearings in?

Anyone got a price/place to buy these? If I go to GSF (which is local to me), will it be of "genuine VW" standard?

in general places like GSF supply oe standard quality parts which is a recognised standard of manufacture.. sometimes not quite the same as original manufacturers quality, but good in general!! and i think the bearings are a press out type!!

IIRC there are 2 bearings on the rear wheels, an inner and an outer.

As said before GSF do supply OEM quality parts

Thanks for replies guys - I've had a look around and apparently you can only get the rear wheel bearings in a hub. Makes it an easier job anyway, rather than pressing in and pressing out.

I'll have a trip down to GSF on Saturday and see what they can do.

Went there and they do not stock the genuine alternative anymore. They only had the 'cheaper' (ebay like brand) at £29.75 for the hub and bearings. Does anyone know where I can get a better quality hub and bearings? I would go VW, but they want £90 + VAT for parts only... GSF was £48.75 inc VAT
