Great chassis - just bought one for Mrs Get and it's way more grippy than the Mk 5

IMHO of course (but I have owned a Mk 5 R32 for the past two years, so do have something to compare it too!)

Quite impressive if a (presumably) non-GTI Golf is way more grippier than the R32 - what are the tyre size/brand differences between the two?

I must say I do like the styling of the mk 6 GTI but feel VW are being a bit cynical with the pricing.

I guess weight has a lot to do with it - the Mk 6 TSI is over 400 kg lighter than the R32, and I always felt a certain amount of drift on tight fast corners in the R32. Not feeling that at all in the TSI. Very impressive.

Yes a lot of weight up front - R&T's lateral g figure for the R32 was a fairly modest .85g

Actually what impresses me most about the mk6 Golf is the braking performance - 60mph-0 in 2.1 seconds according to Autocar - the latest 997 takes 2.3 and the Elise/Exige 2.8 - not sure how scientific these figures are but Autocar's performance figures are fairly well regarded.
