Just taken in a MK3 gti golf for a daily driver and loving it so far.

Couple of things:

No User Manual was supplied are they easy to get hold of?
What grade oil do I need as re above no details?
In the boot on the left is some kind of strap that would hold something in but its not there what was it?

Hi, with regards to oil your local halfords will have on their systems what grade you need, my MK3 didnt come with a usermanual either. Just pick up a haynes manual, you'll probably be better off with that.

As for the strap is it next to/part of a wierd bracket type thing? If so I'm pretty certain that was there for the optional extra of a CD changer. I had 2 straps with mine, could possibly be for holding the boot shut if you have a large item to carry?

Had a similar strap in my MKII, always thought it was for a first aid kit.

stick to quantum synta silver 10w40. Sold at the dealers, no better oil for the engine, i ran a mk3 gti on this for 70000 (mileage currently 139000), engine is still sweet as a nut

My MkII has this. Think its for first aid kit.

Another vote for silver synta. Been using it for the last 10 years
