Having a hankering for a change, 2 years of great fun with the porker but i think time for a more modern car!

Been looking through the local classifieds and saw one or two of these at a (relatively speaking for here) affordable price, so ...

Anyone own one, what they like? Whats reliability like on them?

I am looking at the DSG as i fancy a flappy paddle car.

Commute will comprise of highways and heavy town congestion, weekend plays will over to malaysia and track days at Pasir Guidang and Sepang.

I am after something a bit more practical than the old porker but which will still give me the grin factor.

Also, any worthwhile tuning mods / remaps or are they better left vanilla?

Cheers!

I've had one for 3 years and love it, particularly the DSG.

Reliability has been very good (touch wood) in 48k miles and apart from petrol (26mpg) and road tax (£400) they are reasonable to run.

Some bargains to be had so go for it.

26mpg.. Im impressed with that a 3.2V6 make a mockery of the Focus ST's with lo 20's.

I can get over 30mpg on a long run as long as there is no traffic jams. DSG also helps as it is always 2 gears higher than you would if your using manual. You can easily get into the teens though if you want to enjoy the V6 burble

The missus says no, plus with the way tax rebates work here, you will loose a stack load of cash on a jap car.

Bugger. The R32's are bloody good cars, lacking that knife edge feeling you get with the evo, but great fun none-the-less. surprised to hear it's not the euro stuff that's likely to be more expensive. The tax system in singapore really is a minefield it seems!

For cars, yes. I had an intensive lesson in various car taxes reciently. European car's cost more, and their OMV is higher, but when you scrap them (i.e. sell on for export between year 1 and year 10) you get a much higher tax rebate, as this is based on the OMV and some other bits.

I haven't done any mods but because it's NA it's very expensive to get any significant increase in performance. Most people add Millteks and CAI along with a Revo map which gives an additional 30bhp.
