Hi my car has stuttering acceleration. It was diagnosed with a faulty/leaking turbo hose and required an air mass meter. This work was carried out on Wednesday (13th), I also had a full service done at the same time.

The car is running much better, however there is still some stuttering when cruising at a constant speed. Today also the traction control warning light illuminated and stayed on and the engine was juddering. This fixed itself after turning the engine off and back on again.

Searching the internet the problem part does seem to be the air mass meter or MAF sensor, which I believe is the same part?

Does anyone know of this problem?

Please help. Thanks in advance, David (Blunder13)

PS if it makes any difference it is a 2003 Golf GT TDi 150 - ARL engine code.

Is it similar top a misfire on a petrol engine, if it is ive had the same problem on the 150PD Tdi ARL engine, it tur=ned out to be the camshaft falling to bits as they are made of chocolate. Had to get a new camshaft and followers fitted, (got it done under goodwill by main dealer) this is a well known problem only akin to this engine (ARL). If you have FSH they might/should give you good will assistance too, if that is the problem. Sorry if this is the problem and you dont have FSH, hope you have deep pockets.

first place i would look is the crank sensor the reason i say this is its the only part that links the running of the engine and the traction control system. hth

My camshaft went at about 64 or 64k miles, was in for a week, the bill came to around 2K pounds i paid cost for the parts which was around 250 pounds, the rest was picked up by VW as a goodwill gesture.
