RS6 Avant spec. question
Discussion
hi
i am considering a 03/04 RS6 Avant. i have done the research into the general issues to look out for but cannot seem to find out whether there were any spec changes. i have seen an 04 car with a slightly different sat nav system with a larger screen. Was this a standard spec alteration in 04 or is this just the nav plus sometimes referred to?
is there anywhere i can find the standard spec and the list of options for the model?
thanks in advance.

Your thinking of the diffence between RNS D and E.
The only std RS6 that had RNS E was the plus limited edition.
Although alot of RS6's were retrofitted with E by thier owners.
If its a plus, the car will have black optics (grill, exhaust tips etc)
There were only 999 pluses slated for production, although only approx 600 ish were sold.

The larger sat nav screen can be seen in this car for sale on ebay..

Sorry Deano Beano not quite true, a few 04 RS6's did come with the RNS-E fitted from the factory. Its a much better system and something I would look for in buying one of these beasts as the old system is pants...imo.The only std RS6 that had RNS E was the plus limited edition.

I've owned two 03/04 spec Rs6's, covered maybe 50,000 miles in total. And for what its worth here's my opinions :-i am considering a 03/04 RS6 Avant. i have done the research into the general issues to look out for but cannot seem to find out whether there were any spec changes. i have seen an 04 car with a slightly different sat nav system with a larger screen. Not had any major probs at all, despite the cross country rally trip they've put up with everyday. I am well aware that some people have had costly problems with the DRC, although Audi UK have recently capitulated on this issue and are doing some sort of conditional recall.
I'd say its not worth the premium buying an RS6+ over a well looked after original, but don’t expect to find a brilliant car by spending the least amount of money on a high mileage cheap one. Check a cars history with Audi servicing - definitely worth the hassle and additional cost to buy. Having said that, there's a lot of independents who have loads of experience and are more passionate about caring for them than main dealers.
The RS6+ might have been slightly breathed upon with a bit more poke, firmer/lower suspension, and various cosmetics, but personally I don’t think its worth it. All RS6s have a very high level of equipment options anyway. Also, its straight forward to get 50-75bhp more out of an ordinary C5 RS6. You can go further, but you risk screwing up the box. But unless you're used to Zonda's or something, a tweaked RS6 is one hell of car to enjoy everyday without attracting much attention.
And you can retro fit the much improved RNS-E for £200-£300 by sourcing one from ebay. Dont go to a dealer as they want £2.5k !
www.rs246.com offers much advice.
Good luck
