There were 22 R8 V10's, first in the country apparently, that were there for us to enjoy. They had a hard day show-casing their stuff, which was mighty impressive. They will then be shipped off to dealers across the country as demo cars....

I was impressed with just how far you could push them. The instructor I had pointed out I wasn’t being aggressive enough round the three sets of slalom tests I was allowed, although I don’t know what he meant as I averaged 8mpg, had it drifting nicely, all with stability control and ABS doing its job, and a nice smell coming out the clutch by the end of it. But it didn’t miss a beat throughout, despite a monsoon like downpour for the last hour.

The selection of cars on offer had had 3 days of this abuse by dozens of drivers in track day conditions, and 'apparently' no mechanical cockups. Based directly on experience, I would say that if these were nice red cars from Italy being hammered the same way, something big would have broken and the car quietly retired into a dark tent. The R8's felt very well put together, doing exactly what it says on the tin. I just want one with 650bhp smile

I did one circuit session with an R-Tronic car and really didnt like the up-change under power - was enough to make the back step out of line unexpectedly. Manual box was just sooo much better.

But it does beg the question as to where these track cars will end up…

I had the R-tronic on track and didn't like it that much. That aside, very impressed. It was quite easy in the end to exceed the electronics, you just had to ignore what your brain was telling you and keep your foot down. Quite difficult given how quick it takes off the line.

I think its a shame the R8 looks so tame. But as it is, I think it'll be an LP560 for me, should I need to fill that particular hole.

You must obviously been buttering someone parsnips James, I have had a deposit on a R8 V12 diesel for two years with the promise of a drive of the V10 when launched. Didn't even know they had done it already.
Great customer service no?
Cant feel sorry for the dealer when visiting with my car as he cries about lost commision.
Getting close to knocking the R8 on the head the way things are going.

If only you had added the word 'event' ..

Agreed from what I heard they gave them a good thrash ... great negotiating point I would say ... did you get a vin for any of the Sepang blue cars ?

You seem to be under the illusion that Audi give a toss about selling you the car.

They couldnt care less believe me, you could walk in there with £1M in cash and they would make you wait for an hour before Fred had finished with someone else!
