Seat Leon convenience problem
Discussion
Hi guys, I've got a 2001 Seat Leon 110 TDI SE, and a while ago the central locking stopped working. Basically it would unlock the car but not lock it. I checked the fault codes with vagcom, and there was only one: Central Locking Thermal Protection Activated (I forget the code). I also checked to see if the key was transmitting via vagcom, it was fine.
There doesn't seem to be much information about this fault, but what there is points to a high amperage, ie either a short or a sticking lock mechanism which is drawing too much current.
It only happens every now and then, so I disconnected each door and the tailgate one by one to try to pinpoint the fault. It happens with all the doors disconnected so I can count them out.
Now the door switch illumination has a mind of it's own, flickering etc. Am I looking at a replacement convenience unit or is there a common short somewhere?
Also, the part number for the convenience unit is 1C0 959 799 B, could I fit a unit with this number but a different suffix? Are there any units that will interchange with this one?
Thanks in advance!
Mike
