Replacing A4 factory install radio

I have a V-Reg pre-Nov 99 Audi A4 with the facotry install radio. I am looking to replace it with the Alpine headunit I have from my old car which also connects to my iPod.

Can anyone help out by telling me what bits I need to get to allow me to do this? I know I need new fascia plates and am pretty sure I have worked them out, but presume I need some sort of wiring harness adapter too. Anyway, I'm looking at changing about with the radio stuff in my Audi too, and have found the most ridiculously knowledgable forum; http://audiforum.us/multimedia

It's called US, but there are plenty of UK guys on there and many of the americans use European stuff anyway

Hi Tony, yes its me. Was going to the States immediately after Eurohoon (as it was called at the time) so spent a whole week up in Peterborough trying to get a new passport (which I did eventually). Not much fun.
