few questions.. had my golf about a year now, 1.6S 2002. few things ive always wondered...
1. is the Cd player a single one or a multichanger? if it takes more than one how to i put them in?
2. are there really no rear speakers?
3. how do i get into the panel on the right of the steering wheel? where the little adjusters for the lights are, the front of the adjuster came off and i need to put it back on.
4. my lights dont move up and down with the adjusters anymore, any ideas whats wrong?

1. Six disc in-dash cd players have six buttons along the bootom of the unit - like this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VW-SONY-6-Disc-CD-Changer-In...
They load the same way as the single in dash. It would be a weird for option to choose for an S
2. In an S, no there aren't. Again, weird to spec a six-disc indash and not the rear speakers.
Your standard head unit won't have the out puts for rear speakers unless, again, it was spec'd up.
3. I don't fully understand what you mean. If the switch has broken off then you'll need to replace the unit. Haynes manual details how to remove dashboard trims and you can practice in a scrap yard sourcing the replacement.
4. Might be connected to the broken switch. Could be the motors are broken. Power supply to them - fuse blown. The threads the adjusters run on are seized. Haynes manual details the electricl circuit this runs on.

1+2, it looks like mine is the single one, i dont have the buttons.. it just had a changer light and some other bits relating to more than one CD, confusing...
3, its just the front cover of the switches has come off, they work fine (apart from the lights up and down) but they have gone inside the dash abit as the bit that holds them flush to the dash has come off.. get me?
4. im looking into it.. but cheers for the suggestions..

2. are there really no rear speakers? IIRC not in a 3 door?? there werent in mine

4. my lights dont move up and down with the adjusters anymore, any ideas whats wrong? there is a little ball and socket joint which either manually or electronically...adjusted the aim of the lights, they do tend to fall out and really are a fiddle to get the ball back into the socket joint, unlikely both have popped out tho...but its a possibility
