Apparently it will add about another 10 or 15bhp, so not really worth the £500 I was quoted I suspect. It might improve response and fuel economy a touch I suspect, but a better exhaust and induction kit might be a better option.

Have you bought yourself a car yet?

10 or 15bhp sounds more like the petrol. I found numbers of 60bhp and 110lbft for the 4.0tdi so I would suspect around the same gains.

I think the OP is looking for a petrol 4.2, given the year (2004). The 4.2tdi wasn't released until a couple of years later.

hiya all,
£500 for such a small gain is absured,
i think i will give that a miss,

i am running a 530d tourer at the mo with a tuning box on,
goes well. [215 brake]ish.
the a8 will be a lot better than that, and smoother.

aka8, havent got one yet, seen a few but all miles away,
and mostly silver, dont want a silver one.
not in a hurry, the right one will pop up as they do,
ta billy

turbo tuning gives a lot more scope for power as you can turn up the amount of additional air being forced in plus ignition, etc.

Normally aspirated tuning only allows for ignition, fuelling, etc. so the gains are much smaller.
