Contemplating a Passat V6 4Motion / Syncro
Discussion
I'm considering one of these as a daily snotter - quick, roomy, comfortable, quite nice to have 4x4, keeps the "displacement average" up, etc etc.
Anything particular or major to look out for?
And apologies if this is a dumbass question, but aside from 10bhp, what's the difference between Syncro and 4motion? Is it a different engine? Or different 4wd system?
I've seen a couple at around the 100k miles mark with tip/auto boxes (which would be nice) - how robust are these boxes?
ETA - sorry, should have said, this is the old shape Passat approx 1998-2001 ish to get ahead of the tax hike.
Any help much appreciated! Cheers

We have a 2001 (51 plate) 2.8 v6 4 motion passat and a 997 cs2 and until recently a 335d m sport coupe and I have to say that I absolutely love the passat for its all round ability. It has a silky smooth engine and a great build quality (better than both the aforementioned). The engine is great. Yep it burns a bit of oil (maybe 1 litre per 1000 miles). Its fast enough and comfortable. The seats are half suede and half leather. I get anthing from 25-30 mpg and althought its done 75K miles it feels as if its just run in. very goood value for money even at £400 per annum for road tax. Kind of..
