Leon cupra or Golf Gti editon 30 ???
Discussion
There are some almost new Leon Cupra's on autotrader, and I'm in two minds what to go for. The standard Cupra or the K1 version not sure if the K1 has more power or not ?? I'm aware the cupra can be a bit on the firm side, but as it won't be a dally driver ride/comfort is less of an isue.
Or for a bit more cash I could have a Golf GTi Edition 30, am I right in thinking that the Editon30 has the same 230bhp engine as the cupra??
Other cars that may be considered are Octavia VRs Estate or an S3 with a bit more miles on the clock.
Your coments please.

The Mk2 Cupra isn't a patch on the old Mk1 Cupra R 225 (it looks like an MPV in comparison).
It's also a shame that however good the S3 is, it just lacks the fun factor compared to the rest (probably due to the Haldex system they run).
Not the biggest Golf fan myself - always think they're a little on the stale side. In saying that though, a local tuner (Storm Developments) has done an excellent R36 conversion - the engine is lighter than the 3.2 and has another 60bhp (taking it to 300bhp). Just a shame that VW didn't do the R36 as a run-out special.
Of the current crop of hot hatches I think the Focus RS and Golf R will be the two to look out for, even if the Focus looks a little chavvy and the Golf probably a little underwhelming. I guess we will see.
I know none of that answers your question - so I'd say get the old Mk1 Leon Cupra R and have it custom-code remapped to 270bhp. It'll look much better and go just as fast.
