MK 4 Golf....litre of water in the footwell???? Help please
Discussion
Hi,
First post here and it is a quick plee for some advice. I have just jumped in the car and noticed a very wet footwell, enough water to soak the carpet and mat. It is a LHD model and it was in the drivers side well.
It is definitely water - could it be from the AC unit? I had the cam belt replaced 1 week ago along with the water pump and I am wondering if there is a connection?????
Anyone have any ideas where it could be from?
Thanks in advance
HH

There is a common problem on all cars based on the Golf MKIV platform where water comes in through the Pollen Filter housing if it hasn't been fitted correctly and / or the seals have perished. The passenger footwell floods quite badly and in fact in my case it was a Leon and the carpets were all replaced under warranty.
On RHD cars the Pollen Filter is located just under the windcreen on the passenger side scuttle. In fact the water off the windscreen drains over it that's why it floods badly if the filter housing isnt fitted properly.
I'm sure the location would be the same on LHD cars so that would be the first place to look.
Door seals are also known to leak ut my money is on the Pollen filter
